Coming Clean: My Hidden Truths

Coming Clean: My Hidden Truths

I’ve not been my authentic self – I’ve been hiding

I’ve been reflecting recently. My conclusion is that I’ve been hiding.

I’ve been fearful of raising my head over the parapet, concerned about what people might say or think, and not achieving my potential.

Facing up to reality

For someone as focused on healthy growth as I am, I have to admit that I’ve developed behaviours and habits that oppose the thriving I advocate for. I’ve let my fears get in the way and have failed to achieve many of my goals.

There’s no doubt I know what to do. After all, I’m a coach for both psychologists and individuals. Daily, I help people in the very situation I find myself in. I’ve coached people to overcome their fears of being visible and authentic online and have seen shy therapists grow their businesses tenfold as a result of their posts and reels. Sure, they felt awkward at first, that’s normal, but they got through it, faced their fears and were successful.

I have nothing to fear

Why is this important to me? It’s because I’ve not been taking my own advice. If you look at my posts, you don’t see me. Yet, when I talk to my clients, they compliment my honesty and knowledge. I am everything I need to be, but I’ve been hiding my flame.

Change is possible

So today, I’m being my authentic self; I’m being me and pushing through my fears.

Smashing it and getting my message across

Today, I’m smashing down those obstacles and simply doing everything I tell others. I’m finally listening to my own advice. And I don’t care who sees or what they think. I will be me, show up each day, and let people see me doing what I know I do so well. I’m no longer going to be the invisible man.
